FET overview

FET is open source free software for automatically scheduling the timetable of a school, high-school or university. It uses a fast and efficient timetabling algorithm. It is licensed under the GNU Affero General Public License version 3 or later.

FET is able to solve a complicated timetable in maximum 5-20 minutes. For simpler timetables, it may take a shorter time, under 5 minutes (in some cases, a matter of seconds). For extremely difficult timetables, it may take a longer time, a matter of hours.

What's new in version 7.10.2

The qm translation files will no longer be included in the FET sources package (suggested by Michael Towers).
The activities and the subactivities dialogs have new tristate check boxes, "Unique", for teachers/students/activity tags (suggested by Vangelis Karafillidis). Their use is explained in the dialog's Help function.
It is now possible to import the teachers' qualifications from the activities list (suggested by GUEFFAZ REDA).
The constraints of type teacher home room(s) will now show the teacher's mornings/afternoons behavior (in the Mornings-Afternoons mode), and the associated constraint of type teacher not available times for that teacher (suggested by YOUSSEF HOUIET).
The modify activity and modify subactivity dialogs now have a filter for teachers/students sets/activity tags, similar to the add activity dialog (suggested by GUEFFAZ REDA).
The search in menu line edit has now an explanation (suggested by Michael Towers).
Corrected and improved many English text fields, by Volker Dirr, using ChatGPT.
